Brooks Winery Janus Pinot Noir 2012
This wine offers notes of root beer, bacon, blackberry, dark fruits, smoked meat, rose petal, plum and damson cherry. This wine has such a beautiful perfume! Clove and Chinese five spice over a lush mouthfeel of ripe cherry, red plum and strawberry. The Janus is rich and full bodied, fruit forward with round velvety plushness and a finish of bright acidity and ripe red fruits. This is a hedonistic pleasure and absolutely a pleasure to drink. This could be a main course wine with duck and cherries, pork loin or porchetta. Lamb ribs or a fat piece of fillet covered in a buttery mushroom cream sauce would be ethereal!
Founded in 1998, Brooks is a reflection of the visionary Portland native, Jimi Brooks. His reverence for the land and vines made him a practitioner of organic and biodynamic farming. The great respect for vineyard individuality and mastery of blending, allowed his wines to achieve the greatest depth, flavors and balance. Made with a dedication to sustainability through organic and biodynamic farming, this is a fresh, earthy Pinot Noir that truly represents the unique flavors of the wine country of Oregon. Its grapes were culled from several vineyard sites in the Willamette Valley, hand-sorted, completely destemmed and aged in 25% new french oak for 18 months.
