This Madeira is originally called "Broadbent Madeira 3 Years Old Fine Medium Dry" and branded in the United States as "Broadbent Madeira Rainwater Medium Dry." Translucent with a shiny golden color. A pleasant and intense aroma with a sensation of freshness. Light with a long, dry finish with notes of cocoa, grape, apple, and walnut.
The Broadbent's are deeply rooted in Madeira. Michael Broadbent, as editor-in-chief, published the classic book "Madeira the Island Vineyard" and is considered the world's most experienced taster of Madeira wines. He went to the island to select the best wines for his Broadbent Madeira. This resulted in a collaboration with Justino's Madeira, the most important producer of classic Madeira. His son, Bartholomew Broadbent, has been credited with spearheading the revival of Madeira to America in 1987, long forgotten since Prohibition in 1920. Having worked with many good producers, he is currently working with the finest to develop blends for future Broadbent Madeiras. Madeira is a volcanic Portuguese island situated in the Atlantic Ocean some 400 miles off the North African coast. It was discovered in 1419 by Portuguese explorers and is famous for its dessert wine of the same name, which is one of the world's most exquisite and distinctive wines with a unique character and taste. Produced only from the finest grapes grown on the island, Broadbent's Madeiras are blended in strict accordance with the traditional methods and specifications of Michael Broadbent (Master of Wine) and Bartholowmew Broadbent. As a result, their Broadbent Madeiras embody the beauty, tradition, and elegance of a unique wine.
