Bouchard Aine Pommard 2006
100% Pinot Noir. The XVIIth-century Hotel du Conseiller du Roys in Beaune stands above the cellars of Bourchard Aine & Fils, who have been perpetuating the tradition of making fine Burgundy wines since 1750.
A crystal, clear, cherry red. Complex and powerful, predominantly fruity (morello cherries, citrus fruits, and fresh figs). Oaky with scents of woodland undergrowth and spices. Pommard wines are firm with a lot of color and a vivid bouquet. Theirs is powerful and robust with flavors of cherries, oak and spices, a very well-constituted structure and mellow tannins. A wonderfully well-balanced wine. Ideal with roast game, grilled red meats, or cheeses (especially cheeses ripened with a marc de Bourgogne).
