Black garnet in color. On the nose, youthful, medium + intensity, cherry, mud, espresso, chocolate, leather, cigar, with definite oak, and subtle earth. On the palate, dry, ripe and delicious, medium+ intensity, medium tannin, medium acidity, rich texture, fruit, earth, and oak all harmoniously coming together. Very good value!
The facilities of Bodegas Tridente, formerly Bodegas Triton, are located in Villanueva de Campean, 18.5 miles south from Zamora in the heart of the Tierra del Vino ("Land of the Wine"). This small-sized winery was designed for small productions of red grapes, especially those of the tinta de Toro variety which are indigenous to the area and has deep roots throughout the region. They also produce wines made from the prieto picudo and mencia grape varieties that come from quite-old and low-yielding vineyards in the Bierzo and Leon regions. The Gil Family is accompanied by Enrique Busto in this project and the technical direction is managed by Frank Gonzales, an Australian enologist of Spanish descent.
