Bodegas Iranzo Vertvs Tempranillo Crianza 2004
This wine has a layered and vibrant nose of red cranberry, red raspberry, heat, cooked cherries and raisins. In the mouth many of the same flavors are present: raisin pie, cooked cranberries, blueberry hints. The finish seems rather soft, but then Tempranillo's typical tannins get a little grippy. It's ready now but wants savory and even rich foods (Doug Frost, MS, MW). All of the production is obtained from the Finca Canada Honda estate. The production area includes lime soils which are ideal for obtaining colorful wines. Also the sand textures of these lime soils benefit the ripening of the grapes. The vineyard is situated 2,625-2789 feet above sea level with a N/SE orientation resulting in maximum sunlight exposure.
