Balcones Distilling Baby Blue Corn Whisky
Melted butter, kettle corn, vanilla, toffee, cinnamon and nutmeg, fresh bread and honey, fresh ground coffee, baking chocolate on the nose. Tastes of tropical fruit, slight apricot, brown sugar, cotton candy, sweet tea with lemon and smoked chilies. Medium long warming, late cinnamon/leather spice, mint and green pepper corns finish.
Eight years ago, Balcones was little more than an idea fueled by a ruthless drive to create something new, something genuine, something worthwhile - a Texas whisky tradition. It all started with an old welding shop under a bridge. They hammered and welded their their stills, and sawed and nailed on that little shack to build the distillery that they use to this day. Since then, they have released ten unique whiskies and spirits, of which they are very proud, and won over 140 national and international awards from the world's top judges and critics. They don't just make whisky in Texas. They make Texas whisky.
