Azienda Agricola Lohsa Morellino di Scansano 2004
This wine packs sumptuous raspberry and cherry fruit into a tight package with a touch of earthy spice and red licorice.
The prestige of red wines like Brunello and Chianti Classico from Tuscany—both based on some form of the Sangiovese grape—is well known. But the region also produces lots of wonderful everyday wines from Sangiovese, and Morellino di Scansano is one such wine. Scansano is a village in the hilly southern part of coastal Tuscany, and Morellino is the name for Sangiovese used by the locals.
