Deeply intense ruby-red to garnet color. Intense and complex bouquet with notes of red fruit. Dry, full-boided, and slight tannic palate. The finish is long and spicy. Pair with grilled or roasted red or white meats, braised meats, game, cold cuts, savory dishes (flavored with mushrooms, garlic, and rosemary), polenta dishes, or semi-mature cheeses.
85% Montepulciano, 15% Sangiovese. L'Azienda Agricola Barone Cornacchia is one of the oldest wineries in the province of Teramo. At the end of the 16th century, the Viceroy of Naples granted land to a Cornacchia family member with the award of a baron title. In the early 1900s, Barone Filippo Cornacchia was the first one to age and bottle the Montelpulciano d'Abruzzo. This wine is still the star of nearly the entire Barone Cornacchia production line. Barone Cornacchia employs organic farming and vinification with grapes coming exclusively from their own extraordinary calcareous-clay vineyards, which are key to the production of excellent-quality natural wines. Since August 2012, all their wines are certified organic.
