Alpha Omega Winery Chardonnay Napa Valley 2009
Alpha Omega, located in legendary Rutherford in the heart of Napa Valley, is a shared vision of Robin Baggett and Eric Sklar who wanted to build a winery in Napa Valley that would evoke the hospitality of this farming community, while creating some of the finest wines in the world. Surrounded by vineyards and mountains, the beauty of this rustic, farm-style winery is as captivating as its wine. The "Alpha Omega" name was chosen as a way of expressing how unique their winery would be. "The name pays homage to the first merchants of wine, the ancient Greeks . . . Alpha & Omega are the first and last letters of the Greek alphabet and to us represent the ideals we strive for - full, rounded, well-balanced wine - and the idea of the best of the old world and the new in winemaking." And, these ideals are met by their extraordinary winemakers, who create elegant, approachable, and perfectly balanced wines of the highest quality from blending the best of Old World and New World wine styles. 2010 was a very cool vintage with high levels of acidity and more subtle and fresh aromas in balance with the great extraction of Napa Valley.
100% Chardonnay. Full-bodied and textured palate, supported by bright acidity which brings elegance and balance with notes of dried flowers, lavender, honeysuckle, and pork roast lingering on hints of vanilla, apricot, marzipan, white chocolate, and fresh citrus fruits.
