1848 Winery Generation 2016

Made of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon and 45% Merlot. A dark red wine. with vivid flavors of red fruit, mint and tobacco leaves. A full-bodied, rich wine with a long lingering finish. In 1848, with the renewal of the Jewish settlement in Jerusalem, Yitzhak Galina-Shor opened the first winery in Eretz Israel, in a basement adjacent to the Western Wall in Jerusalem. The wines of the winery received a reputation among the Jewish community of the time and were sold from house to house. During the events of the Turks, the Shor family was forced to abandon the winery in the Old City and to re-establish it over a water storage pool in Beit Israel in the new Jerusalem. Since then, generations of winemakers in the family and their sons have renewed the tradition of wine making that has grown since 1848.
