Grown, produced, and bottled by Stephan Vineyards, established in 1998 by Stephan Asseo. He began making wine in 1982 and founded Domaine Courteillac in Bordeaux in that same year. Stephan and his family later purchased Château Fleur Cardinal and Château Robin in Castillon - Côtes de Bordeaux. However, his true desire was to be more innovative than AOC law would allow. So in 1996, this led him on a quest for a great terroir where he could pursue his ideal as a winemaker. After searching for over a year among the world's greatest wine fields, ranging from South Africa to Lebanon, and Argentina to Napa, Stephan found Paso Robles. He immediately "fell in love" with the unique terroir of Western Paso Robles where he began his adventure, "L'Aventure." Stephan's adventurous spirit has led him to employ a high-density plantation scheme of 2,100 vines per acre (as a result, one bottle of wine can be produced from a single vine), and install solar panels for powering the entire winery. The spirit of L'Aventure can also be found in his "Paso blends," such as Optimus and Estate Cuvée – the future of Paso Robles' wines . . . great, balanced red blends.
