The vineyards where the grapes for Camartina are grown have been cultivated organically since 1988 and have been converted to a strict biodynamic standard in 2000. The grapes are carefully selected in the vineyards and harvested in 8-kilo crates. They are destemmed, uncrushed, and then conveyed into temperature-controlled, stainless-steel vats or, just for the very best parcels, small temperature-controlled concrete vats. Here, alcoholic fermentation, maceration, and malolactic fermentation take place. Macerations last about 12 days for the Sangiovese and up to 20 days for the Cabernet Sauvignon. Learn More

Ceras is Botanica's counterpoint. Its color is more purple than red. It is more about minerals and herbs than fruit and flowers. It is a focused and elegant distillation of rock rather than an opulent cascade of fruit. It is an expression of the geology that lays beneath our land, the tart blue fruits of the coast range and the tender herbs that one finds amongst the trees and mushrooms of the Northwest forest. This is also relatively cool and restrained, particularly for Morgeot with its petrol, citrus and floral infused aromas. There is a bit more size and weight to the broad-shouldered but not rustic flavors that possess solid power, depth and persistence. The concentration is impressive yet the balance is faultless and this too is recommended. Learn More
